Sadly due to master tape damage the best release is still the renowned 1967 original USA Colgems Stereo and Mono vinyl pressings. In spite of that label's known issues with vinyl quality if you are patient and have a bit to spend, one of the finest sounding vinyl records ever made can be yours. It is without question one of the finest sounding records I've ever heard and is among the best if not the absolute best sounding record in my collection. I discuss the score, the recording process which involved using a newer tape formulation, the incredible dynamic range and fidelity in the recording, the Colgems Stereo and Mono LPs, how to look for a good copy and which stamper and pressing plant deadwax information to seek out for the absolute best in sound quality. This is a record that belongs in EVERY record collection. Even if you don't like the film or aren't into soundtracks. If you have a turntable you need a copy of Bacharach's score. It is a record you can use to demo and fine tune systems. It is reference grade which means you will have to pay a collector's price premium on copies from sellers who know the album's reputation.
