It is connected to the Palms Casino Resort. The project was announced in March 2005, to capitalize on a condominium boom occurring in Las Vegas at the time. Groundbreaking took place in May 2006, and the tower was topped off in August 2007. Palms Place opened in 2008, during the Great Recession, and some buyers had difficulty completing their unit purchases because of poor economic conditions. 4381 West Flamingo Road Paradise, Nevada Palms Casino Resort is a temporarily closed hotel and casino located near the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It includes 703 rooms and a 94,065 sq ft (8,738.9 m2) casino. It was originally owned by the Maloof family, and was primarily overseen by George Maloof. He purchased the site in 1997, and construction began three years later. The Palms opened on November 15, 2001, with Station Casinos and The Greenspun Corporation as minority owners. The resort catered to local residents and tourists, and also became popular among celebrities and young adults. It opened with a casino, restaurants and nightclubs, and a 42-story hotel. A second hotel structure, the 40-story Fantasy Tower, was opened in 2005. A recording studio was also added, making the Palms the first casino resort to include such a facility. The resort also includes a movie theater, which has hosted several film premieres. A Playboy Club opened in the Fantasy Tower in 2006, becoming the first such club to open in several decades. A music venue, the Pearl Concert Theater, was added in 2007. Palms Place, a high-rise condo hotel, was opened on the property a year later. The Palms experienced financial difficulty during the Great Recession, and was sold in 2011, to Texas Pacific Group and Leonard Green & Partners. The Maloof family retained a two-percent interest in the Palms. A $50 million renovation took place in 2012, to help reinvigorate the resort's popularity. Red Rock Resorts, the parent company of Station Casinos, purchased the Palms in 2016. The company launched a $620 million renovation which included new restaurants and nightclubs. The Palms and other Nevada casinos were closed in March 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Red Rock sold the resort to the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, which intends to reopen it in 2022. Excalibur, an MGM property Location: South strip, between New York New York and Luxor, with a free tram to Mandalay Bay Room: Not good. First room had trash and obviously someone had been in there laying on the bed. Second room looked nicer but smelled strongly of cigarette smoke (you are not allowed to smoke in the rooms). Felt small and very brown. Most of the decor was falling apart and scratched up. We had our room comped but still paid the $37 resort fee, but we did get $50 food/bev credit and $10 slot play, and an additional $100 food/bev credit due to our rooms not being in great condition. Casino: The casino is fairly large. Smells pretty smoky, and also a weird smell to the resort all around. Small sports book. We couldn’t find the high limit rooms. Food: Lots of grab and go options on the walkway between Luxor and Excalibur. A few sit down restaurants. Dick’s Last Resort Buffet Buca di Beppo TAP Sports Bar Baja Fresh Johnny Rockets Cinnabon Del Taco Einstein Bros Bagels Fatburger Jimmy John’s Krispy Kreme Dairy Queen/Orange Julius Pick Up Stix Pizza Hut Popeyes Various coffee shops & Starbucks Tournament of Kings - dinner and a show! Activities: Not a ton. Lots of bars. Fun dungeon arcade Thunder Down Under show Tournament of Kings Overall Rating: We are not fans of the Excalibur! Honestly it’s currently our least favorite resort in Vegas that we have been to. It’s so outdated, run down, not a good smell, and just doesn’t have a vibe we enjoy. Personally there’s plenty of other “budget” places that are significantly higher quality and you’ll get more for your money. We do love a good theme and don’t mind that at all, but we likely wouldn’t stay here again!
