La tarde del 25 de agosto del 2011, Nuevo León vivió uno de los ataques más tristes recordados en el país a manos del crimen organizado. Fue cerca de las 15:00 horas cuando un comando armado arribó al Casino Royale, ubicado en San Jerónimo, en Monterrey, y roció con combustible el edificio, prendiéndole fuego con decenas de clientes y empleados dentro, dejando un saldo de 52 muertos. De acuerdo con grabaciones de las cámaras de seguridad, entre 12 y 14 hombres armados, que viajaban en cuatro vehículos, irrumpieron el Casino Royale y empezaron a destruir algunas de las máquinas y rociar al menos 4 bidones de gasolina en el área de bingo. Algunos de los clientes y empleados logrando salir por la puerta principal, pero por la desesperación, algunas personas fueron pisoteadas por la estampida, mientras las salidas de emergencia permanecían cerradas con llave. Todas las víctimas murieron asfixiadas por intoxicación por monóxido de carbono, escondidas en los baños y oficinas luego de tratar de huir de los agresores subiendo al segundo piso del establecimiento, el cual no contaba con salida alguna. Se informó que el ataque fue en represalia por no haber pagado las cuotas de extorsión. Samara Pérez Muñiz, vocera de los familiares de las víctimas, platicó para POSTA, que prácticamente no han existido avances y a 13 años de los hechos solo hay tres sentenciados y 13 amparados. Hoy en día permanecen en la banqueta del lugar, cruces con los nombres de las victimas, en modo de memorial.

Don't 'go' near cultural sites. 5️⃣ Camp With Care. Don't camp near historical sites. No fires near these areas, and ensure all waste is packed out. Don't make fires in caves or alcoves. Camp in designated spots only. When you leave, make sure to make the site cleaner and better than when you found it. Pick up extra trash you may see. 6️⃣ Control Your Pets. Don't let pets roam freely near archaeological areas to prevent destruction. Pets are not allowed in or near sites. 7️⃣ Preserve Fragile Areas. Don't disturb fossils and please protect delicate soil and plant life. 8️⃣ Follow Rules. Don't engage in illegal actions such as building cairns, or using climbing gear to access archaeological sites. 9️⃣ Obey Drone Rules and Laws. Numerous locations in the American Southwest and beyond, such as the Navajo Reservation, Wilderness Study Areas, and various restricted spaces, enforce strict drone usage prohibitions.
